ISLAMABAD/CAIRO: Pakistan and Egypt held the 10th round of their Annual Bilateral Consultations virtually on July 21, reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening cooperation across a wide range of sectors and enhancing coordination on regional and international issues.
According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Pakistani delegation was led by Additional Secretary (Middle East) Zahid Hussain, while the Egyptian side was headed by Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Ambassador Amr Hamza.
Senior officials from both foreign ministries participated in the consultations, including Pakistan’s Ambassador to Egypt Amir Shaukat and Egypt’s Ambassador to Pakistan Ehab Mohamed Abdelhamid Hassan.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to conduct a comprehensive review of bilateral relations and assess progress achieved through existing cooperation mechanisms.
The two delegations emphasized that close coordination between the leadership of Pakistan and Egypt on major regional and international issues continues to strengthen the growing strategic partnership between the two countries.
During the consultations, both sides reviewed cooperation in various sectors and agreed to further enhance and diversify collaboration in trade, investment, education, culture, science, information technology, and other areas of mutual interest. They also stressed the importance of promoting greater people-to-people exchanges.
The delegations underscored the value of maintaining regular high-level contacts and official exchanges to sustain the positive momentum in bilateral relations.
Pakistan and Egypt also reaffirmed their commitment to continuing close cooperation and mutual support at multilateral forums, including the United Nations (UN) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Expressing satisfaction over the steady progress in bilateral ties, both countries agreed to maintain regular diplomatic engagement and hold the next round of annual bilateral consultations in Cairo on mutually agreed dates.
