ISLAMABAD, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Pakistan, Yusuf Sharifzoda, has emphasized the immense potential for expanding bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Tajikistan, particularly in the fields of education, trade, tourism, and media, calling for stronger people-to-people and institutional ties between the two countries.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a private consultancy office in Islamabad, Ambassador Sharifzoda said Tajikistan is opening the doors of world-class higher education to Pakistani students and believes that closer cooperation in education and media will further strengthen the long-standing friendship between the two nations.
The event was attended by prominent media professionals and public figures, including All Pakistan Newspapers and Electronic Media Employees Confederation (APNEC) Chairman Muhammad Siddique Anzar, Media Workers Organization President Kaleem Shameem, PFUJ Secretary General Shakeel Ahmad, RIUJ President Tariq Usmani, senior journalist Tanzeen Akhtar, Gulzar Gilani, and several other media representatives. Maruf Abdulrahman, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Tajikistan, also accompanied the ambassador.
Ambassador Sharifzoda highlighted that Avicenna Tajik State Medical University is among Central Asia’s oldest and most prestigious medical institutions, attracting a large number of international students each year. He encouraged Pakistani students to take advantage of the educational opportunities available in Tajikistan.

He noted that Pakistan and Tajikistan share deep-rooted historical, cultural, and religious ties, which provide a strong foundation for expanding cooperation across multiple sectors, including commerce, tourism, education, and media.
The ambassador reaffirmed the Tajik Embassy’s commitment to facilitating stronger bilateral engagement and supporting initiatives that bring the two countries closer together.
During an interactive session, journalists raised questions regarding bilateral trade, investment, tourism, academic exchanges, and media cooperation. Responding to the questions, Ambassador Sharifzoda said significant untapped opportunities exist and stressed that the private sector, educational institutions, and media organizations can play a vital role in advancing Pakistan–Tajikistan relations.

He concluded by expressing confidence that enhanced collaboration and sustained dialogue would contribute to greater economic growth, educational partnerships, and stronger regional connectivity between the two friendly countries.
