ADEN, Yemen’s Prime Minister Shaya Mohsin Al-Zindani has accused the Houthi movement of advancing Iran’s regional agenda, saying the group’s continued attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea threaten international maritime security and global trade.
In a statement shared on social media, Al-Zindani said the Houthis’ repeated targeting of commercial vessels demonstrated that the group was acting in line with Iranian interests rather than Yemen’s national priorities.
“The attacks on commercial ships are clear evidence that the Houthis are implementing Iran’s agenda,” the Yemeni prime minister said.
Al-Zindani warned that continued assaults on international shipping lanes endanger freedom of navigation, disrupt global trade, and threaten international supply chains.
He stressed that protecting maritime security and ensuring the free movement of commercial shipping are shared international responsibilities, calling on the global community to adopt a stronger stance against Houthi attacks.

The Yemeni prime minister also urged international partners to cut off all forms of support that enable the Houthis to continue their military operations.
He reaffirmed that Yemen’s internationally recognized government would continue close coordination with the Saudi-led coalition in efforts to restore security and stability in the country.
The remarks come after the Houthis claimed responsibility for missile and drone strikes targeting Saudi Aramco oil facilities in Jizan and Yanbu, further escalating tensions across the region.
