ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Azerbaijan have reiterated their commitment to strengthening bilateral trade, investment, and economic cooperation during a farewell meeting between Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, and Azerbaijan’s outgoing Ambassador Khazar Farhadov.
According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan praised Ambassador Farhadov for his significant contribution to enhancing relations between the two countries, describing his diplomatic tenure as a milestone in Pakistan-Azerbaijan ties.
The commerce minister said bilateral cooperation reached new heights during the ambassador’s tenure, highlighting the successful convening of the 8th Joint Ministerial Commission, the signing of a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), and the conclusion of 15 agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) that have strengthened economic collaboration.
Ambassador Farhadov emphasized Azerbaijan’s growing interest in Pakistan’s investment opportunities, noting that Azerbaijani investors had been encouraged to visit Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and industrial hubs.
He expressed confidence that Azerbaijan’s planned investments in Pakistan—particularly in the energy sector—would soon enter the implementation phase. He also noted that Pakistan offers substantial investment opportunities across energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, tourism, and logistics.
