BAGHDAD, Iraq’s armed resistance group Saraya Awliya al-Dam has called on the Iraqi government to cancel its security agreement with the United States and immediately sever diplomatic and economic relations with Saudi Arabia following recent joint US-Saudi military strikes inside Iraq.
According to a statement reported by Iran’s state news agency IRNA, the group also urged Baghdad to cancel the Iraqi prime minister’s planned visit to Riyadh in response to what it described as “US-Saudi aggression.”
In its statement, Saraya Awliya al-Dam appealed to the Iraqi government to avoid political compromises on issues related to national sovereignty and dignity, urging the administration to adopt what it called a firm position in light of the seriousness of the latest developments.
The group further demanded that the Saudi ambassador be declared persona non grata and called for the immediate suspension of diplomatic and economic ties with Riyadh.
The statement followed overnight airstrikes carried out by the United States and Saudi Arabia in areas between Baghdad and Karbala. According to militia sources, the strikes killed 20 Iraqi civilians and injured 32 others.

Following the attacks, Iraq’s Presidency issued a statement condemning the military operation, describing it as an unacceptable violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as a breach of international law.
The joint US-Saudi operation was described by Washington as targeting Iran-aligned armed groups allegedly preparing attacks against US forces and Saudi energy infrastructure.
