ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi has called for a positive approach toward the defence agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, saying the Muslim world needs unity, cooperation and collective security rather than division.
Ashrafi said recent statements by the foreign ministers of Iran and Türkiye regarding the defence agreement should be viewed carefully. He stressed that unnecessary and irresponsible commentary could create doubts and divisions at a time when the Muslim world needs greater cooperation.
Call for Support for Muslim Unity
The Pakistan Ulema Council chairman said the Muslim Ummah had received positive news after several decades in the form of greater cooperation on unity, collective security and mutual support.
He urged Muslim countries to play a constructive role in strengthening such initiatives rather than creating unnecessary controversy.
According to Ashrafi, the current regional and international environment requires Muslim countries to support serious efforts aimed at promoting unity, security and stability.

Ashrafi emphasized that the Muslim world should focus on areas of common interest and work together to address regional and international challenges.
He said differences should not become a source of further division among Muslim countries.
“The Ummah needs to be united, not divided. Unity, not discord, is the greatest need of the hour.”
He further called for greater cooperation among Muslim countries to promote peace, stability and collective security across the region.
