MOCHA, Yemen: Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi movement has resumed attacks on the Red Sea port city of Mocha, according to a Yemeni military spokesperson.
The renewed attacks have raised concerns over security in the strategically important coastal city as tensions continue to escalate in Yemen.
Missiles and Drones Reportedly Used
Footage broadcast by Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah TV showed several ballistic missiles and drones being launched.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said the attacks targeted Saudi troop concentrations and weapons depots.
The claims could not immediately be independently verified.

The Yemeni military said in a statement posted on X that its air-defence systems were intercepting a number of drones.
According to the military, Houthi attacks also targeted residential neighbourhoods in Mocha.
The reports did not immediately provide details of possible casualties or damage caused by the attacks.
Mocha’s Strategic Importance
Mocha is a strategically important port city on Yemen’s Red Sea coast. Its location gives it significance for maritime security and military operations in the region.
Any renewed fighting around the city could further complicate efforts to maintain security along Yemen’s western coastline and nearby international shipping routes.
The latest attacks come amid continuing tensions between the Houthis and forces aligned with Yemen’s internationally recognised government, adding to concerns about a wider escalation in the region.
