JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia — The Saudi government has welcomed the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement with Türkiye and Pakistan, saying the pact reinforces historic ties and strengthens Islamic solidarity among the three countries.
The Saudi Cabinet said the agreement also advances shared strategic interests and creates a framework for stronger defense cooperation.
King Salman Praises Tripartite Defense Partnership
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet meeting in Jeddah.
During the session, King Salman expressed appreciation to Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for their efforts to convene the tripartite summit in Makkah last week.
The Saudi monarch praised the summit’s outcomes and said the agreement would support long-term defense cooperation among Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan.

The partnership aims to strengthen coordination, cooperation and integration while helping the three countries address regional challenges.
Saudi Arabia Backs Regional De-escalation
The Cabinet reviewed regional and international developments and discussed Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions.
Saudi Arabia said it continues to coordinate with friendly and allied countries to support diplomatic solutions and regional de-escalation.

The Cabinet stressed the importance of protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.
It also highlighted the need to safeguard maritime routes through the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandeb, which it described as vital to global economic stability.
Riyadh Condemns Houthi Attacks
The Saudi Cabinet welcomed a United Nations Security Council statement condemning attacks and other acts by the Houthi movement in Yemen.
Saudi Arabia said such attacks threaten regional security and freedom of navigation.
The Cabinet reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s right to protect its security and resources.
It also reiterated support for Yemen’s legitimate government and UN-led efforts to achieve peace and stability in the country.

The Cabinet also discussed the Ministerial Meeting in Support of Jerusalem and its Holy Sites, which took place in Amman.
Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its rejection of attempts to change Jerusalem’s legal and historical status or undermine the city’s identity.
The Cabinet called on the international community to stop Israeli violations in Gaza and the West Bank.
It also urged greater protection for Islamic and Christian holy sites and continued support for the Palestinian people.
Saudi Arabia to Host Global AI Ethics Forum
The Cabinet noted that Riyadh will host the fourth UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence in September.
Saudi officials said the event reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to international dialogue on emerging technologies and responsible artificial intelligence.
The government said the forum would contribute to efforts to build a more inclusive and sustainable digital future.
Saudi Students Praised for Nuclear Science Results
The Cabinet also praised Saudi Arabia’s successful hosting of the International Nuclear Science Olympiad.
It highlighted the strong performance of Saudi students in the competition.
The government described the results as evidence of Saudi Arabia’s growing role in international scientific events and its efforts to develop talented young people under Saudi Vision 2030
