TEHRAN — Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran on Tuesday to discuss bilateral relations, regional developments and ways to strengthen cooperation between Pakistan and Iran.
The meeting came as Pakistan continues diplomatic efforts to support dialogue and reduce tensions involving Iran and the United States.
Pakistan, Iran Discuss Bilateral Cooperation
During the meeting, Naqvi said Pakistan and Iran share strong and enduring ties.
He stressed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening relations with its neighboring country.
President Pezeshkian said Iran was ready to deepen relations and expand cooperation with Pakistan.
The two sides also discussed regional developments and matters of mutual interest.
Naqvi Holds Talks With Iranian Foreign Minister
Naqvi arrived in Tehran on Tuesday for meetings with senior Iranian officials.
Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni received his Pakistani counterpart at the airport.

Later in the day, Naqvi met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
According to Iran’s official IRNA news agency, the two officials discussed regional and international developments, the changing situation in the region and ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability.
They also reviewed bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest.
Pakistan Continues Diplomatic Engagement
Naqvi’s visit comes as Pakistan maintains diplomatic contacts with Iran amid heightened regional tensions.
The Pakistani minister is expected to hold additional meetings with Iranian officials during his visit.
The discussions will focus on bilateral relations, regional developments and areas of cooperation between the neighboring countries.
Iranian Interior Minister Visited Pakistan Last Month
Naqvi’s visit to Tehran comes about a month after Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni visited Islamabad.
During that visit, Momeni met his Pakistani counterpart and discussed bilateral matters and cooperation between the two countries.
The latest high-level contacts reflect continued efforts by Islamabad and Tehran to strengthen their longstanding relationship and maintain close coordination on regional issues.
