NEW YORK: Russia has called for the complete lifting of Yemen’s maritime and land blockade, urging an immediate return to peace negotiations at the United Nations Security Council.
Russian representative to the UN Yulia Zhdanova also blamed the United States and Israel for the rising tensions in Yemen, according to Arab media reports.
She called for all restrictions on the delivery of food, medicines and other essential supplies to Yemen to be removed.
Russia Calls for Removal of Restrictions
Zhdanova said humanitarian supplies should reach the Yemeni population without restrictions.
She stressed the need to remove measures affecting the delivery of essential goods, including food and medicine.

The Russian diplomat also expressed concern over the prolonged deadlock in Yemen’s peace process.
According to her, the lack of progress has contributed to the wider regional tensions involving the Houthis.

Russia called for the immediate resumption of peace negotiations in Yemen.
Zhdanova said a political solution can only emerge through dialogue. She stressed that the process should take into account the legitimate interests of all major political forces in Yemen, including the Houthis.

Moscow has emphasized dialogue as the main route toward resolving Yemen’s prolonged conflict.
