A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at Pakistan House in Singapore to mark Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day.
Members of the Pakistani community, officers of the High Commission and their families attended the ceremony.
The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Afterwards, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Rabia Shafiq, hoisted the national flag to the national anthem.
Messages from Pakistan’s Leadership
Messages from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were also read out during the ceremony.
In her address, High Commissioner Rabia Shafiq said Pakistanis around the world were celebrating Independence Day by renewing their commitment to freedom, unity and national development.
She also paid tribute to the vision and leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. In addition, she praised his struggle for the Pakistan Movement.
High Commissioner Highlights National Strength
Rabia Shafiq said the resilience and determination of the Pakistani nation remain important sources of national strength.
She added that Pakistan would continue to play an active role in promoting peace, stability and cooperation in the region and around the world.

The high commissioner also highlighted the contribution of overseas Pakistanis.
According to her, Pakistanis living abroad help promote Pakistan’s culture and positive image. They also make an important contribution to the national economy through remittances.
Prayers for Pakistan and Global Peace
The ceremony concluded with special prayers for Pakistan’s peace, security, stability and economic prosperity.
Prayers were also offered for peace and security in Kashmir and other parts of the world.
The event brought members of the Pakistani community and diplomatic officials together to mark the national occasion and reaffirm their commitment to Pakistan’s progress.
