Israel carried out airstrikes on a Syrian airbase on Tuesday, according to Syrian state media.
The strikes targeted the Abu al-Duhur Airbase in Syria’s Idlib province.
The attack appears to be Israel’s first strike on Syrian government assets since March.

Eight Israeli Strikes Hit Syrian Airbase
Syria’s state-run Ekhbariya reported that Israel carried out eight airstrikes on the base.

A Syrian military source said the attacks caused no casualties.
A civilian living near the base also reported no deaths or injuries.
The Israeli military did not comment on the strikes.
Syria’s Defence Ministry also did not issue an immediate response.
US Envoy Calls Strike an Unnecessary Escalation
US special envoy for Syria and Iraq Tom Barrack expressed concern over the Israeli attacks.
He called the strikes an “unnecessary escalation”.
Barrack said the attacks would not help regional stability.
He urged all sides to show restraint.

Abu al-Duhur Base Has Long History
The Abu al-Duhur base lies about 70 kilometres from the Turkish border.
The base has not operated as a dedicated military airfield since 2013.

The conflict lasted about 14 years and involved forces loyal to former President Bashar al-Assad and opposition groups.
The base has therefore remained an important military site in northern Syria.
Israel Remains Concerned About Syria
Israel has carried out several attacks in Syria since the fall of Bashar al-Assad in late 2024.
Israel remains suspicious of Syria’s new leadership under President Ahmed al-Sharaa.
The Israeli government has also warned against any rebuilding of Syria’s military strength.

It also destroyed large amounts of Syrian military equipment and weapons.
