Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has dismissed the threat of new US sanctions, calling it a sign of desperation in Washington.

In a video posted on Telegram, Araghchi said US leaders had returned to old pressure tactics after military action failed to achieve their goals.
He described the latest sanctions threat as another attempt to pressure Iran.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has warned that Washington will impose what he described as the “toughest sanctions in history” against Iran.

Araghchi said the United States should engage with Iran through respectful dialogue.
He called for a solution based on justice and mutual respect.
The Iranian foreign minister also said Tehran would not be intimidated by economic pressure, blockades or military action.
He argued that previous US measures had failed to achieve their objectives and predicted that the new sanctions would also fail.

The latest exchange comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States.
Washington has continued to increase economic pressure on Tehran, while Iranian officials have warned that further US measures could trigger a strong response.
