Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Leaves for Four-Day Official Visit to China

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has left for China on a four-day official visit.

The visit will focus on strengthening cooperation between Punjab and China’s Xinjiang region. Chinese officials will welcome the chief minister upon her arrival at Ürümqi International Airport.

China’s Consul General Sun Weidong was also present at the airport to see Maryam Nawaz off before her departure.

Maryam Nawaz to Hold Key Meetings in Xinjiang

During her visit, Maryam Nawaz will stay at the Xinjiang State Guest House as a state guest.

She will begin her official engagements at the Kunlun Hall conference center. A high-level delegation led by Xinjiang Party Secretary Chen Xiaojiang will meet with the Punjab chief minister.

Maryam Nawaz will also hold talks with He Zhongyou, Deputy Party Secretary of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Committee.

In addition, she will meet a delegation from the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC).

Focus on Punjab-Xinjiang Cooperation

The meetings are expected to cover areas of mutual interest and cooperation. They will also provide an opportunity to strengthen ties between Punjab and Xinjiang.

The visit comes as Pakistan and China continue to expand cooperation across several sectors. Punjab has also sought stronger engagement with Chinese provinces and regions.

Official Dinner for Punjab Delegation

A dinner will be hosted in honor of Maryam Nawaz and her delegation.

He Zhongyou, Deputy Party Secretary of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Committee, along with the Party Secretary and Political Commissar, will host the event.

The four-day visit is expected to further strengthen political and economic links between Punjab and Xinjiang.
