OIC Foreign Ministers to Meet in Jeddah Over Gaza and West Bank

JEDDAH: Foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold an important meeting in Jeddah today to discuss the situation in Gaza and the West Bank.

The meeting is expected to focus on Israel’s actions in the Palestinian territories. Member states are also expected to consider a resolution on the issue.

Draft Resolution Finalized

OIC senior officials finalized the draft resolution during a meeting on Wednesday.

Pakistan was represented at the senior officials’ meeting by its Permanent Representative, Syed Fawad Sher.

The draft is expected to form an important part of discussions when OIC foreign ministers meet in Jeddah.

New OIC Secretary-General

The meeting will also include discussions related to the organization’s leadership.

A decision on the nomination of the OIC’s new secretary-general is also expected today.

The secretary-general plays a key role in coordinating the organization’s diplomatic efforts and representing its collective positions on major issues.

The Jeddah meeting comes as the situation in Gaza and the West Bank remains a major concern for OIC member states.
