A Russian drone struck the headquarters of Ukraine’s Security Service, known as the SBU, in central Kyiv on Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said.
Zelenskiy said the drone hit the central SBU building on Volodymyrska Street.
The building stands across from the historic St. Sophia Cathedral in central Kyiv.
According to Zelenskiy, the drone targeted the office of the head of Ukraine’s Security Service.
Five People Injured
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said five people were injured in the attack.

Heavy black smoke rose from the area after the strike. Emergency teams responded at the scene as authorities assessed the damage.
The attack occurred in a central part of the Ukrainian capital, where several important government and cultural sites are located.
Zelenskiy Speaks With SBU Leadership
Zelenskiy said he discussed the incident with acting SBU head Oleksandr Poklad.
The Ukrainian president did not immediately provide further details about the extent of damage to the security service headquarters.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities continued assessing the consequences of the drone attack.

Russia has repeatedly launched drone and missile attacks against Ukrainian cities during the ongoing war.
Kyiv remains a frequent target despite Ukraine’s air defense efforts.
