Several US military aircraft suffered damage during overnight strikes on the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, CBS reported.

According to the report, one A-10 Thunderbolt suffered major damage. The aircraft, also known as the Warthog, lost a wing in the attack.
Eight F-15 Jets Also Damaged
About eight F-15 fighter jets also suffered light damage, according to the CBS report.
The damaged F-15s were later returned to service. However, the report did not provide details about the exact nature of the damage.
The reported damage adds to the growing risks faced by US forces in the region.
Iran Claimed Attack on US Base
The strikes came after Iran launched ballistic missiles toward the US base in Jordan.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it attacked the base in response to US strikes on Iranian oil tankers. Jordan said its air defenses intercepted 18 of 20 missiles fired from Iran. Two missiles fell in open areas. Jordan reported no casualties from that attack.
Iran claimed that its attack caused heavy damage to US military positions. However, US officials said the Iranian strike was ineffective and that American troops were accounted for.
Regional Tensions Continue to Rise
The reported aircraft damage comes amid a sharp rise in US-Iran tensions.
Earlier, US Central Command said American forces destroyed five Iranian oil tankers. Washington said the strikes came after Iran targeted a US Navy warship with ballistic missiles.
Iran then launched attacks on US and allied targets in the region.
As a result, Jordan has again become a key location in the wider US-Iran conflict. The Muwaffaq Salti Air Base is one of the important US military facilities in the country.
