Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has accused PTI founder Imran Khan and his party of “politicising dead bodies” for political gains.
In a statement from Lahore, Bukhari said PTI-supporting YouTubers had given a misleading impression of the death of Ishtiaq.
Bukhari Cites Deceased Man’s Son
Bukhari said Ishtiaq’s son had stated on record that his father died in an accident.
She alleged that PTI had a long-standing practice of using deaths for political purposes.
The Punjab information minister also criticised Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi over his visit to Lahore.
She accused Afridi of reaching Lahore for a “public stunt” and behaving rudely with Punjab police officers at several locations.
Minister Questions Afridi’s Lahore Visit
Bukhari questioned whether such conduct was appropriate for a provincial chief executive.
She also criticised Afridi for visiting Ishtiaq’s family home while wearing dark glasses. She accused him of seeking political points from the visit.
Bukhari further claimed that no PTI worker came out to welcome Afridi after he reached Lahore.
She also said no PTI leader had visited the home of Zill-e-Shah for three years.
Bukhari Questions Absence From Kohat
Bukhari also referred to a coal mine incident in Kohat.
She said four people had died in the incident on Monday.
According to Bukhari, Afridi went to Lahore instead of visiting Kohat.
The minister’s comments came amid political criticism over Afridi’s Lahore visit and the death of Ishtiaq.
