LAHORE, Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi has received the Global Peace Award from the Church of Pakistan.
President of the Church of Pakistan Bishop Azad Marshall presented the award to Ashrafi at a ceremony in Lahore.
The award recognised his efforts to promote peace, interfaith harmony and religious tolerance in Pakistan.
Bishop Azad Marshall Praises Ashrafi’s Efforts
Bishop Azad Marshall praised Ashrafi’s work for the rights of non-Muslim citizens.
He also highlighted his efforts to promote dialogue among different religious communities.

According to Bishop Marshall, Ashrafi has played an active role in promoting peace and interfaith harmony at both national and international levels.
He said such efforts deserve appreciation from Pakistanis and all people who support peace.

Ashrafi said the National Message of Peace Committee provides a platform for Muslim and non-Muslim religious leaders to work together.
He said their joint efforts can further strengthen peace and interfaith harmony in Pakistan.
They can also promote harmony among different Muslim schools of thought, he added.
Ashrafi stressed the importance of national unity.
He said dialogue and cooperation can help build a more peaceful and stable Pakistan.

He reaffirmed his commitment to promoting peace, dialogue and religious harmony.
He also pledged to continue supporting the legitimate rights of all Pakistani citizens.
