RIYADH: Representatives from seven Arab countries have pledged to deepen media cooperation within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), calling for closer collaboration among member states to combat misinformation, promote responsible journalism and strengthen the global representation of Islamic societies.
The commitment was announced during meetings of the Islamic Broadcasting Union (IBU), where delegates emphasized the need for a unified media strategy to address regional challenges and enhance cooperation among radio and television organizations across the OIC.
Focus on Joint Media Initiatives
Delegates agreed that stronger institutional coordination is essential to improve media coverage of issues affecting the Islamic world.
Participants proposed the development of new mechanisms for joint media work, including collaborative television productions, regional broadcasting projects and coordinated awareness campaigns addressing topics of shared concern among OIC member states.

They also supported expanding the exchange of news content, technical expertise and professional experience to improve the quality and effectiveness of media organizations across the Islamic world.

Representatives reviewed several proposals designed to strengthen institutional capacity across member states.
Among the recommendations were joint production of documentaries and television programs focusing on regional affairs, specialized training programs for journalists and broadcasters, and increased sharing of technical expertise to enhance professional standards.
