Washington, D.C. – Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, held a high-level meeting with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to discuss bilateral economic cooperation, investment opportunities, and Pakistan’s ongoing economic reforms.
During the meeting, Aurangzeb briefed his US counterpart on Pakistan’s progress toward macroeconomic stability and the government’s strategy to achieve sustainable, export-led economic growth. He also highlighted the economic reforms undertaken to strengthen fiscal stability and improve the country’s investment climate.
The finance minister drew attention to the negative impact of the regional security situation on Pakistan’s economy, emphasizing the challenges posed by geopolitical tensions and their effect on economic performance.
Aurangzeb expressed Pakistan’s interest in enhanced US support to improve the country’s access to international capital markets, strengthen foreign exchange reserves, and achieve further improvements in sovereign credit ratings, which would help expand market access and attract foreign investment.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening economic cooperation, encouraging greater US investment in Pakistan, and advancing strategic projects aimed at promoting long-term economic development.
