RIYADH, Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi movement claimed on Friday that it had carried out military operations targeting Saudi Aramco oil facilities in the Saudi cities of Jizan and Yanbu, marking a further escalation in regional tensions.
In a statement, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said the group had launched operations against Aramco energy infrastructure in the two cities. The statement did not provide further details on the weapons used or the extent of the damage.
Saudi authorities have not immediately confirmed the Houthi claim.
However, video footage circulating on social media and verified by AFP showed thick black smoke rising from the Saudi Aramco refinery in Jizan, suggesting an incident had occurred at the facility.
Earlier, Saudi officials issued brief warnings to residents in Jizan and Yanbu after the Houthis vowed to retaliate against the kingdom following attacks carried out earlier this week.

The reported strikes come amid heightened instability across the Middle East, with the conflict involving Iran, the United States, and regional allies increasing concerns over the security of critical energy infrastructure and global oil supplies.
