KYIV, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has said that Iran should not portray itself as a victim following the recent attack in the Caspian Sea, accusing Tehran of being directly involved in Russia’s war against Ukraine by supplying weapons to Moscow.
In a statement, Sybiha said the Iranian government is a direct participant in Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, arguing that Tehran has played an active role in fueling the conflict.
He accused Iran of providing Russia with weapons used to kill Ukrainian civilians, saying such support has contributed to what he described as Russia’s criminal war.
“Iran has no grounds to present itself as a victim,” Sybiha said.
The Ukrainian foreign minister also rejected Tehran’s references to the United Nations Charter, saying Iran has no moral or legal basis to invoke international law while allegedly supporting Russia’s military campaign.
His remarks come amid heightened tensions following reports of an attack on a vessel in the Caspian Sea, which has further intensified the diplomatic dispute between Kyiv and Tehran.
