TEHRAN, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed responsibility for a missile strike on the Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan, alleging that the attack destroyed three F-35 fighter jets, heavily damaged three more, and killed several U.S. military personnel and technical staff.
The claims were made in Statement No. 55 of Operation Nasr 2, issued by the IRGC’s Public Relations Department.
According to the statement, the strike was carried out in response to what Iran described as a U.S. airstrike on Qeshm Island, where Tehran alleged that bunker-buster bombs hit two residential homes, killing three civilians, including a father, mother, and child, while injuring two other children.
The IRGC said its Aerospace Force launched several ballistic missiles at the aircraft parking area and maintenance hangars at Al-Azraq Air Base, claiming the operation resulted in:
- The destruction of three F-35 fighter aircraft.
- Heavy damage to three additional F-35 jets.
- The deaths of several officers, technicians, and maintenance personnel.
The statement also accused the United States of using military bases in Jordan to conduct operations against Iran and declared that its campaign against U.S. forces in the region would continue.
