ISLAMABAD, The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced a new requirement for Pakistani nationals seeking employment in the Gulf country by making a Police Character Certificate (Police Clearance Certificate) mandatory for all work visa applications.
According to Pakistan’s Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment, the new policy came into effect on July 20, 2026, and applies to all Pakistani citizens applying for UAE employment visas.
Under the revised requirements, applicants must first obtain a Good Conduct/Police Character Certificate from the relevant Pakistani authorities. The document must then be authenticated by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Pakistan before it is submitted as part of the visa application process.
The Bureau has advised all prospective workers to secure the certificate before filing their visa applications to avoid unnecessary delays or complications in processing.
The UAE remains one of the most popular overseas employment destinations for Pakistanis, with millions of Pakistani expatriates currently living and working across the Emirates in sectors including construction, services, healthcare, transport, hospitality, and information technology.
