WASHINGTON, The United States has announced a new round of sanctions targeting a global network accused of supporting Iran’s Mahan Air, alleging that the airline has facilitated the transportation of personnel linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), as well as weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles.
According to the US Department of the Treasury, six entities and individuals based in China, India, Russia, and Iran have been added to the sanctions list for allegedly assisting Mahan Air’s international operations.
Companies Accused of Supporting Mahan Air
US officials stated that several of the sanctioned companies acted as sales agents or provided commercial services for Mahan Air despite existing sanctions imposed by the United States and the European Union.
Washington alleges that these networks helped the airline continue operating internationally while circumventing previous restrictions.
US Concerns Over Security Activities
The US government has long maintained that Mahan Air has been involved in transporting IRGC personnel and supporting Iranian military logistics, including the movement of weapons and drones.

Regional Tensions Continue
The latest sanctions come amid heightened tensions between the United States and Iran, following recent military developments across the Middle East.
The announcement also coincides with growing security concerns after a drone attack targeted gas vessels at Egypt’s Mediterranean port of Damietta, raising fears of further escalation affecting regional shipping routes and energy infrastructure.
