LAHORE, The Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) has announced a nationwide campaign under the banner of “Paigham-e-Pakistan”, with awareness programs to be held across the country throughout the month of August to promote peace, tolerance, moderation, and reject extremism.
Addressing office-bearers of the Pakistan Ulema Council Lahore chapter, Chairman Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi said the initiative aims to familiarize the public with the true teachings of Islam and the nationally endorsed Paigham-e-Pakistan declaration.
Ashrafi said the declaration carries the signatures of around 15,000 religious scholars, including the Imam of the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) and the Imam of the Prophet’s Mosque (Al-Masjid an-Nabawi).
“We want to take the message of Paigham-e-Pakistan to every citizen so people understand that Islam is a religion of peace, love, tolerance and moderation—not violence or extremism,” he said.
The Pakistan Ulema Council chairman said the month-long campaign would focus on educating the public about Islamic values of coexistence while discouraging extremist attitudes and violence.

He added that the organization would also hold public gatherings during the months of Rabi-ul-Awwal and Rabi-us-Sani under the theme “Paigham-e-Rahmat-ul-Lil-Alameen (PBUH)”, emphasizing peace, compassion, moderation, and interfaith harmony.
As part of the campaign, the Paigham-e-Rahmat-ul-Lil-Alameen Conference will be held on August 30 at Alhamra Hall, Lahore, bringing together religious scholars and community leaders to promote the message of unity and peaceful coexistence.
The Pakistan Ulema Council said the campaign reflects its continued commitment to countering extremism through dialogue, education, and public awareness.
