SANAA: Yemen’s government forces have launched a military operation against the Houthis following deadly missile and drone attacks on government military positions in Marib and Hadramout.
Yemeni army spokesman Majed Al-Nazili said the military would not tolerate threats against civilians, soldiers or military installations.
He warned that the Yemeni army would respond decisively to any threat facing the country’s people and armed forces.
The Houthi attacks on several government military camps in Marib and Hadramout reportedly killed 30 Yemeni soldiers and injured 15 others, sharply escalating tensions in the country.
UN Warns of Renewed War
The United Nations special envoy for Yemen has warned that the country faces a growing risk of a return to large-scale conflict.
The envoy urged all Yemeni parties to exercise restraint and return to negotiations to prevent further escalation.
The latest developments have raised concerns that Yemen could once again descend into widespread fighting after years of efforts to maintain a fragile ceasefire and pursue a political settlement.
