BHUBANESWAR, India — August 10, 2026: Indian police used tear gas, batons and water cannons on Monday to disperse thousands of young protesters in Jharkhand.
The protesters marched toward the state legislature in Ranchi. They want authorities to address alleged irregularities in civil service examinations.
Students and unemployed young people started the protest on July 25. They accuse authorities of failing to prevent recruitment test paper leaks and other problems.
Youth Protesters Demand Exam Reforms
The protesters want major changes to Jharkhand’s examination system. They also want authorities to cancel some disputed tests.

He asked the demonstrators to avoid violence and continue raising their concerns peacefully.
