WASHINGTON — The Trump administration has canceled more than 175,000 US visas as part of its ongoing crackdown on illegal immigration, the US State Department said.
The department released updated figures showing a significant number of visa cancellations under the administration’s intensified immigration enforcement efforts.
Criminal Offenses Among Main Reasons
US officials said several types of criminal offenses have led to visa cancellations.
These include assault, theft, drug-related offenses, driving under the influence, sexual offenses, fraud and child abuse.
The State Department said authorities are also taking action against individuals who misuse the US immigration system.

Visa Screening to Continue
The State Department said the visa screening and cancellation process will continue under President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

The State Department has not indicated that the cancellation campaign will end soon.
