Islamabad: Pakistan and Kazakhstan have agreed to give new momentum to bilateral agricultural cooperation and speed up the implementation of existing agreements and memorandums of understanding.
Both sides also want to turn these agreements into practical opportunities for trade, investment and business.
The agreement came during a meeting between Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain and Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Yerzhan Kistafin in Islamabad.
Pakistan and Kazakhstan Discuss Agricultural Cooperation
The two sides discussed ways to expand agricultural trade and food security cooperation.
They also explored opportunities in regional connectivity, agricultural machinery and private-sector partnerships.
Rana Tanveer Hussain said Pakistan and Kazakhstan have strong potential to expand economic ties through agriculture.
He called for practical implementation of bilateral agreements. He also stressed the need for institutional and business links between the two countries.
Joint Agriculture Working Group Meeting
Pakistan and Kazakhstan agreed to hold the next meeting of the Pakistan-Kazakhstan Joint Working Group on Agriculture in Kazakhstan.
The meeting will review progress in existing areas of cooperation. It will also identify new sectors for joint work.
Pakistan will nominate a delegation to attend the meeting.
Kazakhstan Shows Interest in Pakistani Wheat
Kazakhstan expressed interest in supplying wheat to Pakistan.
The Pakistani side agreed to review the proposal based on domestic requirements.
Officials will consider factors such as price, quality and supply conditions before reaching a decision.
Regional Connectivity Could Boost Agricultural Trade
Both sides highlighted regional connectivity as an important factor in expanding agricultural trade.
They discussed proposed railway and transport links between Pakistan and Central Asia.
The proposed routes could reduce freight costs. They could also improve access to new markets for agricultural products.
Pakistan Highlights Agricultural Export Potential
Pakistan highlighted its export potential for several agricultural products.

Pakistan also expressed interest in expanding access to markets in Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries.
Officials stressed that better logistics and trade facilitation will play a key role in achieving this goal.

Agricultural machinery and farm mechanization also emerged as potential areas of cooperation.
The discussions included affordable tractors and modern farming equipment for small and medium-sized farmers.
Both sides agreed to encourage relevant institutions and private-sector representatives to explore partnership opportunities.
Focus on Technology and Investment
Rana Tanveer Hussain stressed the importance of stronger links between agricultural institutions, research centers and business communities in both countries.
Such cooperation could support technology transfer, investment and market-focused agricultural projects.
Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and giving fresh momentum to practical cooperation in agriculture.
