The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced a new multinational attack drone task force.
CENTCOM named the new unit Task Force Falcon Strike. The force will use one-way attack drones in different areas of the sea.
According to CENTCOM, the drones can operate above the sea, on the surface and underwater. Military personnel from the United States and regional partner countries will operate the drones.
The move marks a new step in US military cooperation with countries in the region.

Falcon Strike Builds on Scorpion Strike
The announcement came nine months after CENTCOM created Task Force Scorpion Strike.
Scorpion Strike became the first special US squadron in the Middle East focused on one-way attack drones.
Now, Falcon Strike will build on the experience gained from that earlier task force.
As a result, the US military expects the new unit to improve cooperation with regional partners in the use of unmanned systems.
CENTCOM Commander Highlights Cooperation
CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper welcomed the creation of Task Force Falcon Strike.
He said regional allies and partners are making major progress in military innovation.
Furthermore, Cooper said the new task force would build on the success of Scorpion Strike.
