CAIRO: Hamas leader Khalil Al-Hayya is set to travel to Cairo for talks with Egyptian officials, according to a Hamas source cited by AFP.
The visit comes ahead of a planned regional trip by US President Donald Trump’s envoy Jared Kushner.
Al-Hayya is expected to meet Egypt’s intelligence chief Hassan Rashad during his visit to the Egyptian capital.
Al-Hayya to Meet Egyptian Intelligence Chief
According to the Hamas source, Al-Hayya is due to meet Hassan Rashad on Sunday morning.
The visit will mark Al-Hayya’s first trip to Egypt since he became Hamas leader in late July.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected the proposed plan.
Kushner will travel with Nickolay Mladenov, the high representative for Gaza of the Board of Peace.
Mladenov has been tasked with helping implement the proposed deal.
