DUBAI/WASHINGTON: Iran has warned that any new US military or economic threats could trigger a “devastating” response, as Washington prepares what it describes as its toughest financial penalties against Tehran.
The warning came after US President Donald Trump threatened economic consequences for countries that provide Iran with any form of financial support.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he would provide details of the planned sanctions on Monday.
Iran Warns of Broad Military Response
Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Ali Abdollahi said Tehran was prepared to respond to new threats.
Iranian state media quoted Abdollahi as saying that Iran’s armed forces were ready across land, sea, air, air defence and cyberspace.

He warned that any new hostile action would face a strong and decisive response.
The statement signals that Tehran could use its military capabilities if Washington increases pressure on Iran.
Trump Threatens Economic Pressure
Trump has warned countries against maintaining economic links with Iran.
