Israeli settlers attack media team

Israeli settlers attacked a US media team while journalists were reporting on settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

According to US media reports, the settlers surrounded the journalists and physically assaulted them. They also attempted to seize the journalists’ mobile phones.

Two journalists suffered injuries in the attack. A Palestinian woman who was speaking to the media team also sustained injuries after the settlers assaulted her.

The media team had been covering attacks and violence allegedly carried out by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the area.

Foreign Press Association raises concern

The Foreign Press Association (FPA) expressed deep concern over the attacks on journalists and Palestinian civilians in the occupied West Bank.

In a statement, the association said journalists had once again faced an attack while carrying out their professional duties in the West Bank.

The FPA stressed that the incident was not isolated. Instead, it said the attack formed part of a continuing pattern of violence against journalists and Palestinian civilians.

FPA calls for investigation

The association called on Israel’s Central Command, which has responsibility for the West Bank, and the Israeli police to investigate the incident.

The FPA also urged the authorities to hold those responsible accountable under the law.

Furthermore, it called for immediate and concrete measures to protect journalists working in the West Bank.

The association said journalists must be able to report from the area without facing attacks or intimidation while carrying out their professional duties.

NBC News team also attacked

The latest incident came just one day after video emerged showing masked Israeli settlers attacking an NBC News team.

That incident reportedly occurred in the Palestinian village of Jit, where NBC journalists had gone to interview a Palestinian woman who said settlers had recently forced her from her home.

The reported attack has added to concerns about the safety of journalists covering the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the West Bank.

No arrests had been reported in connection with the incident at the time of the report.

Growing concerns over press safety

The attacks have renewed concerns over the safety of journalists reporting from the occupied West Bank.

Journalists covering settler violence often work in volatile areas and face risks while documenting events and interviewing affected Palestinian residents.

The Foreign Press Association’s call for an investigation highlights the need for authorities to protect media workers and ensure that attacks on journalists do not go unpunished.
