NEW YORK: A Bank of America vice president was killed in a stabbing attack in New York City’s busy Times Square.
The victim was identified as Erin Piacenti, 32, according to the New York Police Department.
Piacenti worked as a vice president at Bank of America. She suffered a stab wound to the abdomen and later died at a hospital.
Two People Attacked in Times Square
Police said a 49-year-old woman, identified as Pamela Cisneros, attacked two people with two knives on Monday afternoon.
The first victim was a 68-year-old man. He was also stabbed in the abdomen and taken to hospital in stable condition.

Cisneros then moved along Seventh Avenue and attacked Piacenti near West 42nd Street.
The two attacks happened within about 20 seconds, according to police officials.
Police Shoot Suspect
After the attacks, police officers confronted Cisneros in the middle of Times Square.
She continued to hold the knives despite repeated orders to drop them.
Police first tried to stop her with Tasers. However, the attempt failed.
Cisneros then moved toward the officers while still carrying the knives.
As a result, two officers opened fire and shot her.
Police took her to Bellevue Hospital, where she later died.
Police Rule Out Terrorism
New York police officials said the attack appeared to be random and unprovoked.

Authorities have found no evidence linking the incident to terrorism.
New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch also said Cisneros had a documented history of mental health concerns.
However, police said she had no known arrest history.
Bank of America Mourns Executive
Bank of America expressed deep sadness over Piacenti’s death.
The company described her as a valued colleague and extended its condolences to her family and loved ones.
The attack took place near the bank’s Manhattan offices.
Meanwhile, police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
