An Indian Army boat capsized near Hathnikund Barrage in Haryana’s Yamuna Nagar district. The incident left two soldiers missing.
Three other soldiers were rescued safely after the boat overturned in strong currents and a whirlpool.
According to media reports, the incident took place near the barrage’s sluice gates. The boat was carrying personnel linked to the Indian Army’s 1 PARA Special Forces unit.
Three Soldiers Rescued
The boat became trapped in strong water currents near the sluice gates. It then overturned.
Three soldiers were wearing life jackets at the time of the incident. The jackets helped them reach safety.
However, two other soldiers remain missing. They reportedly belong to a unit based in Nahan.
Authorities immediately launched a large search and rescue operation after the accident.
Joint Search Operation Underway
Indian Army teams are working with the Indian Air Force, National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, police and civil administration.
The teams are searching the Yamuna River and nearby canals for the missing soldiers.
Rescue authorities have also used helicopters to support the search. Meanwhile, officials reduced the water flow from the barrage to help rescue teams conduct the operation more safely.
The search operation remains underway as authorities continue efforts to locate the two missing soldiers.
