The Sindh Assembly has passed a resolution opposing any move to divide Sindh into separate provinces or administrative regions.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) lawmaker Nisar Khuhro presented the resolution in the provincial assembly.
Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah said Khuhro prepared the draft after considering the assembly’s rules.
Murad Ali Shah Seeks Consensus
Murad Ali Shah said he had asked opposition lawmakers to work together on a joint resolution.
He said the opposition proposed adding the creation of new administrative units to the resolution.
The chief minister argued that administrative units should not be linked to the core issue of dividing Sindh.
He said lawmakers could have introduced a separate resolution if they wanted to debate the creation of administrative units.
Government Supports Stronger Local Governments
Murad Ali Shah said the provincial government supports proposals to strengthen local governments.

He said the government is ready to take further steps to improve local government institutions.
The chief minister also urged the opposition to introduce a separate resolution on administrative units or local governments.
According to Shah, opposition lawmakers walked out of the assembly instead of agreeing to a joint resolution.
He accused the opposition of showing bad intentions by refusing to support the joint resolution.
Sharjeel Memon Criticizes Opposition Walkout
Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon also criticized the opposition.
He said opposition lawmakers were using the protest and walkout as an excuse to leave the assembly.

Memon said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) also boycotted the session.
He added that PPP lawmakers remained present in the house while other opposition members boycotted the proceedings.
Assembly Session Adjourned
The Sindh Assembly later adjourned its session until 2:30 p.m. the following day.
The resolution comes amid renewed political debate over the administrative structure of Sindh and calls for stronger local government institutions.
