Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan have agreed to strengthen efforts to turn their longstanding friendship into greater trade, investment and business cooperation.
The inaugural meeting of the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Joint Business Council took place at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The meeting brought together business leaders from both countries. They discussed practical steps to expand bilateral economic cooperation and create new business opportunities.
Business Council to Focus on Results
Jabbar Rahim Khan, Chairman of the Pakistan-Kyrgyz Business Council at FPCCI, said the Joint Business Council should work as an active business institution.
He said the council should not become a ceremonial forum. Instead, its performance should depend on measurable results.
These results should include higher bilateral trade, new investments, joint ventures and employment opportunities.
Khan also said Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan should view each other as strategic economic partners.
Multiple Sectors Offer Investment Opportunities
The business leaders identified several sectors with strong potential for cooperation.
These include pharmaceuticals, textiles, agriculture, information technology, construction, mining, energy, tourism and logistics.
The participants also stressed the importance of improving transport and trade links between the two countries.
Better road connectivity could help businesses move goods more efficiently. At the same time, simpler customs procedures could reduce delays and trading costs.
Calls for Easier Trade and Business Travel
Jabbar Rahim Khan called for more efficient banking and payment systems between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan.
He also urged both countries to make business visas easier to obtain. In addition, he highlighted the need for digital trade platforms and reliable logistics services.
These measures could help businesses expand cross-border trade and investment.
Khan also proposed the creation of an Investment and Joint Venture Platform. He suggested forming sector-specific business groups to connect companies in key industries.
Furthermore, he proposed an Annual Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Business Summit.
The summit could provide a regular platform for business leaders to review progress and develop new partnerships.
FPCCI Supports Greater Private-Sector Cooperation
The delegation of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) reaffirmed its commitment to stronger economic relations with Kyrgyzstan.
The delegation stressed the importance of private-sector cooperation in achieving sustainable economic growth.
It also highlighted the role of stronger business ties in improving regional connectivity.
Focus Shifts From Friendship to Economic Partnership
The first Joint Business Council meeting marks an effort to give greater economic substance to Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan relations.
Both sides now have an opportunity to convert existing diplomatic goodwill into practical commercial partnerships.
With cooperation in trade, investment, logistics and emerging industries, business leaders believe the two countries can create new opportunities for companies and workers.
The success of this process will depend on continued engagement, easier trade procedures and the implementation of proposed business initiatives.
