Pakistan’s security forces killed 11 militants during two intelligence-based operations in Balochistan, the military said.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations took place in Kharan and Washuk districts on September 6 and 7.
The ISPR identified the militants as members of Fitna al-Hindustan. It also described them as Indian-sponsored militants.
Pakistan has made similar allegations about militant groups in Balochistan. India has rejected such accusations in the past.
Eight Militants Killed in Kharan
The ISPR said security forces received intelligence about the presence of militants in Kharan on September 6.
The militants allegedly blocked a road and tried to disrupt traffic in the area.
Security forces moved quickly after receiving the information. They surrounded the militants and engaged them in a gunfight.
As a result, eight militants were killed, according to the ISPR.
Three More Militants Killed in Washuk
Security forces launched another intelligence-based operation in Washuk on September 7.
The operation followed information about the presence of militants in the area.
According to the ISPR, troops destroyed the militants’ hideout during the operation. A gunfight followed, and three more militants were killed.
This brought the reported death toll from the two operations to 11.
2.9 Tonnes of Explosives Recovered
The ISPR said security forces also recovered 2.9 tonnes of explosive material during the operations.
The material was allegedly being used to make improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Security forces also continued searches in the surrounding areas after the operations.
Clearance Operation Continues
The military said a clearance operation remains underway in the area.
Security forces are searching for other militants who may still be present in the region.
The latest operations come amid continued security concerns in Balochistan. Pakistani authorities have carried out several intelligence-based operations in the province in recent weeks.
