Iran has warned Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Japan that they will face the consequences of supporting a resolution against Tehran.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei made the comments in an interview with Iranian state television.
Baghaei also discussed a meeting between Iran and Gulf countries. He said countries could solve regional problems through talks without foreign involvement.
He called efforts to bring countries to the negotiating table an important achievement.
Iran Warns Three Countries
Baghaei said Saudi Arabia, Japan and Jordan would face the results of their support for the resolution against Iran.
He also rejected the idea that Iran was in either a state of war or peace.
“We are in a state of war,” Baghaei said.
He added that maritime restrictions and blockades amounted to acts of war.
Therefore, he said Iran considers its actions in the current situation to be defensive.
Iran Says It Controls Strait of Hormuz
Baghaei said the Strait of Hormuz remains under Iran’s full control.
The waterway plays a major role in global energy trade. Any disruption could also affect fuel prices and international shipping.
Baghaei blamed the United States for rising fuel prices around the world.
He said the international community should hold Washington responsible for the increase.
Iran Links 9/11 to US-Supplied Groups
Earlier, Baghaei also responded to comments by US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth about the September 11 attacks.
The Iranian spokesman claimed that groups armed by the United States later played a role in the events of September 11.
Baghaei said Hegseth’s statement contained major contradictions.
He argued that those responsible for aggression and killings could not question the legality of actions taken by other countries.
Iran Rejects 9/11 as Justification for War
Baghaei said the groups that the United States had armed and organized were linked to the September 11 attacks.
He added that the US-led war on terrorism after 9/11 caused major destruction in Afghanistan and Iraq.
According to Baghaei, using the September 11 attacks as a justification for war against Iran was unacceptable.
He also accused the United States of killing Iranian officials and civilians, including women and children.
Iran Calls War Illegal
Baghaei stressed that the war against Iran was illegal.
He said the conflict could not be described as a war against terrorism.
He also argued that claims of fighting terrorism did not give any country the right to target civilians.
Iran has continued to present its military actions as defensive measures. At the same time, Tehran has warned countries against supporting measures it considers hostile to Iran.
