UNITED NATIONS/TEHRAN — Iran has formally lodged a complaint with the United Nations, accusing the United States of carrying out airstrikes on civilian infrastructure in the country’s southern Hormozgan Province, including bridges, railway stations and residential neighborhoods.
In a letter addressed to UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the President of the UN Security Council, Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani, outlined what Tehran described as a series of U.S. attacks that allegedly took place between Thursday night and Friday morning.
According to the letter, the reported strikes targeted key transportation infrastructure connecting Bandar Abbas and Kahouristan in Bandar Khamir County, where several strategic bridges were allegedly destroyed.
Ambassador Iravani argued that the reported attacks constitute a “blatant violation” of Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter, which prohibits the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state.
The Iranian envoy further claimed that one of the attacks struck a civilian vehicle after a bridge was targeted, resulting in the deaths of seven people and injuries to nine others.

The letter also alleged that a separate strike hit a residential neighborhood in Bandar Abbas, killing one civilian and injuring eight others.
Iran has called on the United Nations to take note of the alleged attacks and to hold those responsible accountable under international law.
The United States had not immediately issued an official response to the allegations at the time of publication, and the reported casualties and damage have not been independently verified by international observers.

The complaint comes amid heightened military tensions in the Middle East, with escalating exchanges between Iran and the United States raising international concern over the risk of a wider regional conflict.
