Islamabad: Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand visited Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior, where she held talks with Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on strengthening bilateral relations, expanding security cooperation, and enhancing collaboration in trade and law enforcement.
According to official details, the meeting focused on a wide range of issues, including Pakistan-Canada relations, bilateral trade, security cooperation, and measures to increase institutional engagement between the two countries.
The two sides also discussed strengthening cooperation to combat illegal immigration, human smuggling, and cybercrime. Both ministers reviewed proposals for closer collaboration between law enforcement agencies, including training programs and exchange initiatives for officials from relevant institutions.
During the meeting, Pakistan and Canada agreed to expedite the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at further enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding ties with Canada across all sectors. He noted that the Pakistani community living in Canada continues to play an important role in strengthening relations and contributing to the development of both countries.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry said that an agreement to enhance cooperation in areas of shared interest would further deepen bilateral relations and open new avenues for collaboration.
Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand emphasized that Canada attaches great importance to its relationship with Pakistan and is keen to further strengthen bilateral engagement. She stressed the need to establish a comprehensive framework to promote long-term cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting was also attended by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, the Canadian High Commissioner to Pakistan, the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), senior officials from the Ministry of Interior, and other government representatives.
