MANILA: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, met with ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn on the sidelines of the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in Manila, reaffirming the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two leaders reviewed avenues for expanding cooperation in trade, connectivity, investment, and people-to-people exchanges, while expressing their shared commitment to further strengthening Pakistan-ASEAN relations.
During the meeting, Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s desire to deepen engagement with the dynamic ASEAN region and enhance collaboration in areas of mutual interest. He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to promoting stronger economic and diplomatic ties with ASEAN member states.
ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn acknowledged Pakistan’s strategic geographical location, significant economic potential, and the shared interests between Pakistan and ASEAN. He highlighted the broad opportunities available for expanding cooperation across multiple sectors and stressed the importance of closer engagement to achieve mutual prosperity.
The ASEAN chief also commended Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic role in promoting dialogue and reducing regional tensions amid recent geopolitical developments. He expressed hope that continued diplomatic efforts would contribute to lasting peace, regional stability, and sustainable development.
