ISLAMABAD, The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Pakistan, in collaboration with the Pakistan-Cuba Social Forum, inaugurated a photographic exhibition titled “Fidel Por Siempre” (Fidel Forever) and a special display of books celebrating the life and legacy of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz to mark the centenary of the historic Cuban revolutionary leader.
The ceremony, held at the Cuban Embassy in Islamabad, brought together political leaders, members of the diplomatic corps, intellectuals, academics, and friends of Cuba from across Pakistan.
Among the distinguished guests was Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, who delivered the keynote address highlighting Fidel Castro’s global influence, revolutionary vision, and enduring contribution to anti-colonial struggles, international solidarity, and social justice. The event was also attended by the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.
In his remarks, Senator Mushahid emphasized that Fidel Castro’s humanist philosophy continues to shape Cuba’s international engagement, particularly its longstanding commitment to humanitarian cooperation.
He recalled Cuba’s deployment of medical brigades to Pakistan following the devastating 2005 earthquake, as well as the education of Pakistani students who later graduated as doctors from Cuban universities, describing these initiatives as lasting symbols of friendship and solidarity between the two nations.

Cuban Ambassador Damián Cordero said the centenary celebrations coincide with Cuba’s National Rebellion Day on July 26, commemorating the 1953 assault led by Fidel Castro and a group of young revolutionaries on the Moncada Barracks and the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks, events regarded as the beginning of the Cuban Revolution.
“The photographic and book exhibition is not simply a look at the past through images and texts, but a celebration of a living legacy defined by courage, social justice, sovereignty, and unwavering internationalism,” Ambassador Cordero said.
He added that the exhibition reflects a century-long legacy of dignity, independence, and solidarity that continues to inspire people around the world.

Ramzan Mughal, President of the Pakistan-Cuba Social Forum and the principal organizer of the exhibition, said the event also reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to preserving their shared history and strengthening the bonds of friendship between Pakistan and Cuba.
The exhibition features rare photographs documenting Fidel Castro’s political journey, leadership of the Cuban Revolution, and international engagements, alongside books chronicling his life, ideology, and contributions to global movements for independence and social justice.
