RAWALPINDI, Two members of the United States House of Representatives held talks with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, focusing on regional security, defense cooperation, and economic engagement.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the U.S. congressional delegation included Representative Ryan Keith Zinke of Montana and Representative Michael James of Washington.
During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, including the regional security environment, bilateral defense cooperation, and opportunities to expand economic collaboration and shared prosperity.
Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted Pakistan’s vast economic potential, emphasizing that sustainable regional stability depends on economic growth, enhanced trade, and greater regional connectivity.
He also noted that Pakistan is pursuing structural reforms aimed at creating a business-friendly environment and attracting greater foreign investment, underscoring the government’s commitment to long-term economic development.

According to the ISPR statement, the U.S. delegation acknowledged Pakistan’s important role in promoting regional stability and economic resilience.
The discussions also explored new opportunities to strengthen bilateral economic ties, private-sector partnerships, and trade relations between Pakistan and the United States.
The visiting lawmakers thanked the Pakistani military leadership for its warm hospitality and reaffirmed their commitment to further enhancing economic, commercial, and institutional cooperation between the two countries.
