US President Donald Trump has announced that a planned military strike against Iran has been postponed over the weekend following appeals from Iran and several regional countries, saying the decision is conditional on reaching a prompt agreement.
In a statement posted on social media, President Trump said he had decided to delay the military operation after requests from Iran and countries across the region. He emphasized that the suspension of the planned strike is directly tied to the possibility of an immediate agreement.
According to Trump, if a comprehensive agreement is reached soon, the planned military action will not take place. He also revealed that Israel has agreed to postpone its own planned military operation in coordination with the United States.
Despite delaying the strike, the US president stressed that Washington remains fully prepared to launch military action if necessary. He said the United States is completely ready and capable of carrying out operations against Iran at any time.
Trump further stated that the authority to initiate military action against Iran remains in place and that the option continues to be available should diplomatic efforts fail.
