ISLAMABAD, – Pakistan believes recent progress on the Strait of Hormuz could create an opportunity for renewed Iran-US negotiations, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said during the weekly press briefing on Thursday.
He said Pakistan hopes the emerging consensus on the Strait of Hormuz will help advance the Islamabad Reconciliation Framework and encourage diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Washington.
Pakistan also supports the resumption of technical-level talks between Iran and the United States, Andrabi added. He said Islamabad will continue to play an active role in diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions.
Pakistan Praises Regional Mediation Efforts
The spokesperson said Pakistan, Qatar, Oman, and other friendly countries are maintaining close diplomatic coordination to promote peace in the Middle East.
He praised Oman for its constructive role in efforts to ease the Strait of Hormuz crisis. He also acknowledged the joint facilitation provided by regional partners during recent negotiations.

According to Andrabi, Pakistan will continue working with friendly countries to strengthen diplomatic cooperation and support regional stability.
Invitation Extended to Iranian Foreign Minister
The Foreign Office confirmed that Pakistan has invited the Iranian Foreign Minister to visit Islamabad.
When asked about reports regarding an invitation to the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Andrabi said the National Assembly Secretariat would be able to confirm those details.
Pakistan Links Gaza Peace to Israeli Withdrawal
Commenting on the situation in Gaza, Andrabi said lasting peace requires both the disarmament of Hamas and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied Palestinian territories.
He stressed that Israel must fulfill its international obligations and complete its withdrawal from Gaza.
The spokesperson added that discussions about deploying an international peacekeeping force in Gaza remain premature. Pakistan will examine any formal proposal if it is presented through the appropriate international channels.
No Comment on Bangladesh’s Internal Politics
Responding to questions about remarks made by Bangladesh’s former prime minister, Andrabi said Pakistan does not interfere in the internal political affairs of Bangladesh.
He reiterated that Islamabad has no official position on Bangladesh’s domestic political developments.
Pakistan Condemns Attacks on Commercial Shipping
The Foreign Office also strongly condemned attacks on commercial vessels in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
Andrabi said such attacks violate international law and threaten global maritime security.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the protection of international shipping routes and said defense cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will continue.
