ISLAMABAD, — Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, has welcomed the reported defence agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, describing it as a significant development for Muslim unity and collective security.
Ashrafi said the agreement should be viewed not merely as a defence arrangement between three countries but as a broader commitment to strengthening cooperation and security across the Muslim world.
He praised the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, saying their efforts played an important role in advancing the initiative.
Focus on Muslim Unity and Collective Security
Ashrafi said Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye share strong historical, religious and strategic ties and that closer defence cooperation could contribute to greater stability in the Muslim world.
He also linked the development to the situations in Palestine and Kashmir, arguing that stronger cooperation among Muslim countries could provide greater diplomatic and political support for the Palestinian and Kashmiri peoples.

According to Ashrafi, the agreement could also contribute to efforts against terrorism and extremism and strengthen regional stability.
Calls for Protection of Holy Sites
Ashrafi emphasized the importance of protecting the security and sovereignty of Saudi Arabia and the holy sites in the Kingdom, saying any aggression against the security of the region should be met with a strong response.
He further expressed the expectation that other Muslim-majority countries could eventually participate in broader collective security initiatives.
