ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan government has withdrawn the Pakistan Telecommunication Reorganisation Amendment Bill from the Senate.
Federal Minister for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja said the government took the step to speed up the legal process.
She said the government has also submitted a request to withdraw the bill from the Senate.
New and Comprehensive Bill Planned
Shaza Fatima said the government will soon present a new and comprehensive bill.
The new draft will include all key and necessary provisions.
She said the government wants to ensure a faster and smoother legal process.
The minister explained that the bill’s 90-day legal period was about to expire.
Therefore, the government decided to withdraw it from the Senate.

The minister said the bill could have moved to a joint sitting of Parliament if the government had not withdrawn it.
However, there was no clear timeline for holding such a sitting.
As a result, the government chose to withdraw the bill.
This decision will allow officials to prepare a revised draft with all required provisions.
